BTEC First qualifications were originally designed for use in colleges, schools and the workplace as an introductory Level 2 course for learners wanting to study in the context of a vocational sector. This is still relevant today.
The knowledge,
understanding and skills learned in studying a BTEC First will aid progression to further
study and prepare learners to enter the workplace in due course. In the Health and
Social Care sector, typical employment opportunities may include working as an
apprentice or in a supervised entry role, depending on specific job requirements
and age restrictions.

In this course we will show how to log into the Solution 9 portal, set your security question and password and choose a starting contract.
This course will explore the STUK IT Services Helpdesk portal, give a tour around the site and explain each of the request and incident categories and what they can be used for.
In this course we will cover how to Install and access Teams as well as its features including managing your teams and its settings and communication in team using calls, meeting, chats and files.
The aims of all qualifications in the BTEC First Certificate in Hospitality are to:
- inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in the Hospitality sector give learners the opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the hospitality industry, such as marketing and promotion, cooking, food and beverage service, and accommodation service or finance
- support progression to specialised Level 3 qualifications in Hospitality, or to an Apprenticeship
- give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment in a wide range of job roles.
- add breadth to learners’ knowledge and understanding of the Hospitality sector as part of their career progression and development plans
- support learners who have had some achievement in their Key Stage 4 programme and who wish to ‘top up’ their Level 2 achievement to progress to employment or other qualifications.
This qualification has been developed to ensure it enables learners to develop the skills and behaviours that will give them the best opportunity to be successful when applying for work.

Achieving this qualification will give learners an advantage when applying for a job in business administration. The types of role they will be ready for are:
- business administrator
- administrative assistant
- office administrator.
When studied as part of a full study programme, this qualification also gives learners a sound
basis to progress further in a business administrative role, and to a Level 3 qualification such as
a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business, a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National
Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in a Tech Level qualification.

qualification or an Apprenticeship.
The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Principles of Working in Warehousing and Storage provides the foundations for an entry role in the warehousing and storage sector.
The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:
- develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that provide the foundation for an entry level role in Warehousing and Storage. This includes areas such as receiving, storing, processing and despatching goods, working safely and with regulations and working effectively with customers and colleagues
- learn in a real warehousing and storage work environment and validate the theory and knowledge which has been delivered in the training environment
- develop transferable soft skills which will support access to further study and or employment. This includes skills such as reflective learning, personal development planning and team working.

The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Customer Service for Practitioners qualification will help learners to:
- develop and apply the technical and behavioural knowledge and understanding
- required to become competent and successful in a customer service job role.
The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:
- develop the technical knowledge and understanding that underpins competence in a customer service job role
- learn about a range of transferable skills and professional attributes that support successful performance in an customer service job role
- achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification

Overview of Functional Skills English Level 1:
There are three components to Functional Skills Level 1: Reading, Writing (including Spelling, punctuation, and grammar) and Speaking, listening and communicating.
Component 1 Speaking, listening and communication skill standard: Take part in formal and informal discussions and exchanges that include unfamiliar subjects.
Make relevant and extended contributions to discussions, allowing for and responding to others’ input.
Prepare for and contribute to the formal discussion of ideas and opinions.
Make different kinds of contributions to discussions.
Present information/points of view clearly and in appropriate language.
Component 2 Writing Skill Standard: Write a range of texts to communicate information, ideas, and opinions, using formats and styles suitable for their purpose and audience.
Write clearly and coherently, including an appropriate level of detail.
Present information in a logical sequence.
Use language, format, and structure suitable for purpose and audience.
Use correct grammar, including correct and consistent use of tense.

Functional Skills English Overview of the course:
The Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in English at Entry Level 3 indicates that learners should be able to speak, listen, communicate, read, and write with increasing clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness. Learners should, be able to apply these functional skills to informal and some formal contexts, in familiar situations.
Functional Skills qualifications provide reliable evidence of a learner’s achievements against demanding content that is relevant to the workplace. The qualifications assess learners’ underpinning subject knowledge and their ability to apply this knowledge to different contexts. They provide a foundation for progression to employment and further technical education, and they help learners to develop skills for everyday life.
Learners will develop understanding and skills in English, giving learners the opportunity to:
● demonstrate the ability at an appropriate level to read, write, speak, listen, and communicate in English
● apply this knowledge and these skills in familiar situations.
● achieve a foundation for further study at Levels 1 and 2.
The Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in English at Entry Level 3 consists of three components.
Component 1: Speaking, Listening and Communicating Texts Learners should practise different types of speaking, listening, and communicating activities. This should include straightforward narratives, accounts, explanations, discussions instructions, information, and descriptions
Component 2: Reading Texts Learners should practise reading different types of text. This should include straightforward texts that instruct, describe, narrate, and explain.
Component 3: Writing Texts Learners should practise writing different types of text. This should include straightforward texts such as narratives, instructions, explanations, and reports.
Learners must pass the following assessments before the qualification can be awarded:
● a Speaking, Listening and Communicating assessment
● a Reading assessment
● a Writing assessment.
Assessment will be via: Internally set and assessed Speaking, Listening and Communicating assessments. Externally set, on-demand Reading and Writing assessments, internally marked, and externally verified.
Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications are designed to give learners the skills
to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and
everyday life. Learners may study Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level 3 to Level 2.
